Privacy Policy

Last updated May 27, 2026Effective May 27, 2026
Your trust is the only thing that lets editorial media work. This policy explains what information Green Rush Nation collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to publish good journalism, run our events, and operate the Cup — nothing more, and we never sell your information.
  1. Green Rush Nation (“Green Rush Nation,” “GRN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent cannabis lifestyle media brand rooted in California. We publish editorial coverage, host events, produce a podcast, and run the GRN Cup.

    This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit greenrushnation.comand our related properties (collectively, the “Site”), how we use that information, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We collect the minimum data needed to run editorial media responsibly — we are not in the business of selling your information.

  2. We collect information in three ways: what you give us, what we collect automatically, and what we receive from trusted partners.

    Information you provide

    • Newsletter and updates. If you subscribe, we collect the email address you submit and any preferences you set.
    • Event RSVPs and tickets. Name, email, age confirmation, and any ticketing details required to attend.
    • GRN Cup entries. Information required to enter the competition, including operator or brand name, contact, and entry metadata.
    • Tips, submissions, and correspondence. Anything you choose to send to our editorial inboxes, including attachments and source material.
    • Account credentials. If you have a contributor or admin account, your sign-in email and authentication metadata.

    Information collected automatically

    • Device and connection data. IP address, user agent, device type, screen size, language, time zone, and approximate location (city/region) derived from your IP.
    • Usage data. Pages viewed, referring URLs, navigation paths, time on page, and similar engagement signals captured in aggregate.
    • Diagnostic data. Crash reports and performance metrics used to fix bugs and keep the Site fast.

    Information from third parties

    When you engage with embedded content (for example, a podcast player, a video, or a social embed) the embedded provider may share limited data about that interaction. We may also receive contact details from event partners when you opt in through their channels.

  3. We use a small set of cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, secure authenticated sessions, and understand how the Site is used in aggregate.

    • Strictly necessary.Required for the Site to work — for example, to keep an admin session signed in or to protect against abuse.
    • Preference. Remember your choices, such as dark mode or geo-appropriate content.
    • Analytics.Help us understand which stories resonate so we can keep making good ones. We configure analytics for privacy — IP addresses are not stored in identifiable form, and we do not build advertising profiles.

    You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Some parts of the Site may not work correctly without them.

  4. We use the information we collect to:

    • publish, operate, and improve the Site, the podcast, our events, and the Cup;
    • respond to messages, tips, pitches, and support requests;
    • send newsletters and event communications you have asked to receive;
    • verify age and eligibility for 21+ content, events, or competition entries;
    • understand audience trends in aggregate to plan editorial coverage;
    • keep the Site secure and prevent fraud, scraping, and abuse;
    • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

    We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

  5. We share information only in the limited ways described here.

    • Service providers. Vendors that host the Site, send our email, process ticketing, store media, and provide analytics, security, and customer support. Each is bound by contract to use information only to provide their services.
    • Event and Cup partners. When you RSVP to an event or enter the Cup, we share the data necessary for the partner to admit you, verify your entry, or deliver promised prizes. We tell you who that partner is at the point of collection.
    • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, valid legal process, or necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of GRN, our audience, or the public.
    • Business transfers. If GRN is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

    We do not sell your personal information,and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.

  6. We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Newsletter records persist until you unsubscribe. Event and Cup records persist for the lifetime of the event or competition cycle plus a reasonable records-retention window. Analytics events are retained in aggregate.

  7. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information — encrypted transport, hardened authentication for staff, scoped access controls, and routine review of the systems that handle audience data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.

  8. Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. You can exercise any of the rights below by emailing legal@greenrushnation.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

    California (CCPA / CPRA)

    • Right to know what personal information we have collected about you.
    • Right to delete personal information we have collected, subject to exceptions.
    • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
    • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — though, as noted above, we do not sell or share personal information.
    • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information — we do not use sensitive categories for advertising or profiling.

    Other U.S. states

    Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Oregon, Texas, and others as they take effect) generally have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain processing. We honor those rights the same way we honor California rights.

    EU / UK / EEA visitors

    If you are accessing the Site from the European Union, the United Kingdom, or the European Economic Area, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR or UK GDPR. We process your data under our legitimate interests in publishing independent media, with your consent where required, and to fulfill the obligations you have requested of us.

  9. The Site is intended for adults 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at legal@greenrushnation.com and we will delete it. The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children as defined by COPPA.

  10. Some browsers transmit a Do Not Track signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, our practices do not change in response to those signals. We honor GPC as a valid opt-out for the limited contexts in which it applies.

  11. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. If changes are material we will provide additional notice, such as a banner on the Site or an email to subscribers. Your continued use of the Site after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

  12. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, contact us:

    We aim to respond to verifiable requests within 45 days. Complex requests may take up to 90 days, in which case we will let you know.
